This tube top consists of a rectangular mosaic crochet motif that will be wrapped around the bust area. A ruffled bottom piece will be cut & sewed separately. These two pieces will be joined & the back will be crocheted similarly to a corset tie up back. Lastly, a hem will be made around the edges of the fabric to finish it off & a long cord will be made to weave in and out of the back portion. I have sectioned this pattern into a few parts to make this understandable for you. There is some measuring involved to ensure a perfectly custom fit. For this project, I recommend a weight 4 MEDIUM yarn. However, you can use any weight of yarn. Keep in mind that this may alter the size & the look of the final piece. Cotton yarn is recommended for this project. I used weight 4 medium I LOVE COTTON yarn. I recommend that you read through the pattern first to familiarize yourself with the process before beginning.
Behind The Design: Mosaic crochet has been a dream of mine to learn. And now that I have, I can confidently say that I am falling in love with the art! I’ve spent time having so much fun learning & trying out new & different design patterns until I finally fixated on this Tribal-like motif.
I specifically fell in love with the diamond inside this motif. These diamonds symbolize love, purity, innocence & relationships filled with love. I resonate with this so much at this time in my life as there has recently been a new life born into my family’s lives! My little nephew, Jonah. He truly fills our lives with so much love & light. I feel so blessed.
Fabric! This has also been a dream of mine to incorporate fabric into my crochet designs! I think that ruffles with fabric is just so beautiful & lightweight. I love the way fabric ruffles drape over the curves of the body. It’s a bit different compared to the way crochet ruffles feel and look. While I do love both, I really wanted to try the fabric for a change!
The name ‘Buttercup’ derived from the flower! The ruffles of this top are quite like the ruffles of the lustrous buttercup petals. They are usually yellow, soft and delicate. Buttercups are said to represent joy, youth, purity & friendship! It reminds me of sunshine!
I’m very proud of myself for creating this radiant design as I’ve started a new journey with mosaic crochet. This buttercup tube top has become one of my favourite pieces of clothing! Now to share it with you! It can be worn as is or I think it would look gorgeous with a cardigan draped over it!
I invite you to use your creative juices to create your version with your own special touch of YOU!
